Australian Pavilion Venice

The Australia Council has named John Wardle Architects in the shortlist of six architects competing for the redevelopment of the Australian Pavilion for the Biennale of Venice, Italy.

“We received 67 Expressions of Interest (EOI) as part of the first stage of the selection process – an open call to all Australian architects for credentials. From this, a panel selected six practices on their demonstrated capability, suitability, experience and skills to undertake this project,” said Rose Hiscock, Executive Director, Arts Development.

John Wardle Architects has a long association with the Biennale having exhibited in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

The Venice Biennale’s International Architecture Exhibition is among the most important events on the international contemporary architecture calendar. To be involved with the redevelopment of the Australian Pavilion would be a great honor. The competition commences immediately with the submission of a concept design early in the New Year.
